It's been QUITE a while. They were right when they said graduates get stuck in jobs aside from illustration so they don't starve, and end up not doing art.
Well I'm trying to NOT do that.
Don't work for inventory companies. They SAY they're easy, but really they eat your life with 15 hour days counting grocery stores.
Anyway!
I've gotten a few potential illustration type jobs that I'm working on!

For now I did a new promo piece out of sheer random inspiration that came from nowhere.
Hopefully that will happen more often!

I have plans for some other things, including a new portrait to add to the series. Though whether it will really fit in the series is to be seen, as the personality of the lovely Miss Nina Flowers is a little too explosively colorful to be so limited in palette as the others have been!

Also! I am working on a sculpture!!! what of you say? well here is a preview:

Mildred: Protector of the Known (and unknown) Universe

This is a project I collaborated on with George Livingston.
It's a project very near and dear to our hearts. He completed a short comic based on the story while I did character designs, both with feedback and commentary from the other. We plan on pursuing the project further, but for now, here are some preliminary character designs.

Well, I used to be a ridiculous portrait realist. Quite a switch I guess! But I decided to go back to my roots and do a series based on people that I love/character that inspire me from movies etc.
There are going to be four in the series. I'm working on three and four now.

Book Illustration

Here are some of my book illustrations/ story illustrations. My favorite 8D This first one is from a personal story.

The next two are works in progress from Brisingr, part of the Eragon series.

Not entirely satisfied with this one, so WIP. Planning to print it out and draw some linework into that fog possibly:

And the line drawing for the first one, I was pretty happy with it :-)

and this is the pre-photoshop version of the second. Sometimes I like to edit them more in photoshop to get more even effects, like the darkening in front, and I used a texture for the fog. Plus once I had that granite texture in I did NOT want to touch it, haha.

Character Work

Well, I figured it's high time I finally start using this thing. So since I have a ton of stuff not uploaded yet, I'll group things together to make it easier XD
So this is some of my character work from the past few weeks. Nothing is colored yet but I plan to :-)
